All Washed Out

Well, we have a roof and can now even take a bath! We have shower units and plumbing. The toilets, sinks, and master bath units are not done, but the pipes are there. There are shingles on the roof and the bricks have been delivered. This is so awesome. We order cabinets this week!

Raise the Roof

Wow! This house is flying. Of course I know that it will still be a long time before it is finished. We have gone by at all times of the night and day. When we were by there the other night, Don and Nancy came by and looked with us. Next we have lots of decisions to make with tile and paint and cabinets. It is a bit overwhelming. I will try to keep the blog updated on the decisions.

Concrete!!!

We all took turns walking on our new foundation. Trey ran from one end of the house to the other. Brady was....zzzzzz.... sleeping in the car. I had to try out my new laundry
room.

Pouring the Foundation

Everything needs a good foundation and that includes our lovely home. Marty and Trey were up at 6 AM to greet the cement truck. They watched and made a souvenir.

Footings

I don't know lots about building, but I am told that our house needs feet. Footings, that is! The family went out to see the footings and made a disturbing discovery. My laundry room was very, very, very small. I pouted and we went back and got the measuring tape. It was officially two feet to small. We called Don and all was fixed. It was a simple mistake, but we are all glad we found it. I would have really been sad if I could not bend over and get my laundry out without hitting the wall.

Breaking Ground

Marty was the only one to enjoy the ground breaking. The rest of us were in Mississippi. The house is officially under way! See all of the pics as we progress at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrscaldwell0/sets/72157600802354857

We are the Caldwell's!

After the addition of baby Brady in April, our crew now consists of four- three boys and me! I am boy-trapped. Here we will chronicle all things interesting with our family, especially with the building of our new house. Enjoy!
